Alagappan is Chairman of Murugappa Group

Chennai, Sep 17: Mr M A Alagappan, Vice-Chairman of the Corporate Board of the Murugappa Group of Companies, has been nominated as its next Chairman.

Mr P S Pai, the present Chairman, handed over the operational charge to Mr Alagappan.

Senior executives would be holding a meeting here on September 22 and 23 to determine the long term strategy of the group.

Mr Pai was given one year extension as Chairman and his term was due to expire on October 20. Preparatory to retirement, he was proceeding on leave from tomorrow.

Since he had felt the executives meet should be overseen by the new Chairman, Mr Pai handed over the operational charge to Mr Alagappan, a Murugappa Group release said here today.
