UPA government to bring transparency in govt: Koda
Ranchi, Sep 16 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister designate Madhu Koda today said he will carry out developmental projects taken up by his predecessor Arjun Munda and work to uplift the downtrodden, tribals and weaker sections of the state.
Talking to UNI here Mr Koda said the government would mainly focus to uplift the economically backward classes and ensure their partnership in the government.
Replying to a query, he said the decision taken by the BJP-led government, after losing the majority, is not 'constitutional' as any minority government was not entitled to take any policy decision.
Speaking about the MoUs signed by outgoing chief minister Arjun Munda, he said if those would lead to industrial development, then it would be considered.
Considering panchayat election to be a key issue, Mr Koda said he would take initiative in this regard after discussing with other UPA partners.
Terming the government as a secular one, he said the government would be formed with the help of secular forces and run with their support.
He said a steering committee comprising senior UPA leaders have been formed and the government would work according to a common minimum programme.
The government would also focus on strengthening the public distribution scheme, education and health departments.
On the issue of reshuffling of bureaucrats, he said change in administration was a routine affair and are done according to the need.
He said the contribution of UPA leader Sonia Gandhi and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav would be remembered.
Justifying his resignation from the Arjun Munda cabinet, he said, ''Contractors and middlemen were dominating the outgoing government and it is difficult to work for the welfare of the people.'' UNI AM JYN PL RD 1708
