Two women leaders quit DIC(K), rejoin Congress
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 16 (UNI) The Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) today suffered yet another jolt with two prominent women leaders and former MLAs, Shobana George and Radha Raghavan, returning to the Congress.
Their decision came at a time when talks were progressing for a possible merger of the DIC(K) with Mr Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
With this, seven out of the nine MLAs, who resigned to join the DIC(K), have deserted the party launched by veteran leader K Karunakaran and his son K Muraleedharan.
Ms Shobana George, a known loyalist of Mr Karunakaran, announced her decision when a group of her supporters beseiged her house this morning and demanded her to return to the Congress.
Following this, she went to the Indira Bhavan, the headquarters of the Congress in Kerala and sought the Congress membership from senior leader A K Antony.
Ms Radha Raghavan also announced her decision to join the Congress along with her supporters.
