Two prisoners escape from Junagadh jail after tying guard onto tree
Junagadh, Sep 16 (UNI) In a straight take-off from a Bollywood film, two prisoners escaped from the Junagadh jail after tying the guard on duty to a tree early today.
However, their accomplice was recaptured, near Mazvedi gate on the outskirts of the city.
This was the second such incident in three days, after the escape of five undertrials while they were being brought back to jail after a court hearing, in neighbouring Amreli district. Two undertrials had been killed and another injured in that incident as police opened fire to prevent their escape.
In today's incident, the trio attacked the guard, M M Vargiya, and took the keys of the cell from his pocket. They fled after tying him up onto the tree.
While Jitendra Bihari and Bhujbal K Prasad are still at large, Dharmendra Jagdish was nabbed while trying to flee the district.
All this happened after 0130hrs after other cell-mates had retired to bed after watching a movie.
While Bihari and Prasad were in jail on robbery charges, Dharmendra was facing charges of murder. The local crime branch is probing the case.
