Srinagar, Sep 16: Security forces killed a self-styled financial controller of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir last night, a Defence Ministry spokesman said today.

He said troops of 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation at Nadimarg forest in south Kashmir yesterday afternoon following a tip-off that a group of militants had entered the area from Doda through Pirpanjal Rang.

The troops were searching the woods when militants opened fire, he said, adding in the ensuing encounter a Lashkar commander Abu Saad was killed.

Saad, a resident of Lahore was chief administrator and financial controller of the Lashkar.

He said Abu Saad was Amir of LeT Madaras in Muridke and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
