Security to be beefed up for dassera festival
Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) The city police will make necessary arrangements to maintain public peace and order during the nine-day Dassera festival commencing on September 23.
In a statement here today, City Police Commissioner A K Mohanty said the concerned organizers would install Durga Matha idols in public places in various localities of the twin cities only after obtaining prior permission from the police department.
He said the organisers seeking permission to install Durga Matha idols should clearly indicate the place and the date of the proposed installation, route and the destination of the proposed immersion procession. They should furnish No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the owner of the premises or land.
He said installations would be permitted only at places where it would not cause obstruction to smooth flow of traffic and where there was no threat to public peace and order.
However, the instructions were not applied to the Durga Matha idols installed in private residences, which were not made accessible to public.
