Project to make Pushkar, Anasagar lakes pollution-free
Jaipur, Sep 16 (UNI) Rajasthan government will soon intiate a project to make the holy and historically significant Pushkar and Anasagar lakes pollution-free and thus more tourist-friendly.
The conservation work of the lakes has been undertaken under the Central Lake Conservation Mission, Ajmer's Divisional commissioner Dipak Upreti said.
Five old and ancient lakes namely Pushkar Sarovar, Anasagar in Ajmer, Fathesagar and Picchola in Udaipur and Nakki Lake in Mount Abu in Rajasthan have been chosen under the project.
The PDCOR and ILFS organisation has prepared an initial Rs 267 crore project for the conservation of these lakes.
Mr Upreti said a meeting will be held on September 21 on the action plan for the conservation of the lakes under the chairmanship of the chief secretary.
The Pushkar Nagar Palika has given an estimate of Rs 13.88 lakh to the state government for cleaning Pushkar Sarovar while Ajmer Urban Improvement Trust had handed over a technical report amounting to Rs 18.72 lakh for Anasagar.
He said a survey of the lakes will be conducted which will identify the proper outlets for inflow and discharge of water, the capacity and the geological status under the lakes.
