Model for erosion check of Majuli in November
Guwahati, Sep 16 (UNI) The Brahmaputra Board today announced that the model for permanent solution of erosion problem of world's largest riverine island Majuli will be submitted in November.
This was communicated to Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a meeting with the Board officials to review the measures taken by it to check erosion in Majuli, a release said.
The Board had been facing criticism for its alleged failure in implementing the projects.
Mr Gogoi reviewed the progress in containing erosion through the RCC Porcupine project of the Board in Majuli. He directed the Board authorities to set up a zonal office and guest house there to ensure better supervision of work.
The meeting also discussed progress of the Pagladia project and a tripartite meeting, involving the state government, Brahmaputra Board and the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District, would be held soon.
Water Resources Minister Bharat Chandra Narah was also attended the meeting.
