Mixed reaction for K'taka Legislature special session
Hubli, Sep 16 (UNI) Veteran journalist and Karnataka Development Forum chief Patil Puttappa today criticised the State Government's decision to hold a special session of the Karnataka Legislature in Belgaum from September 25 as an ''eye wash''.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the session would discuss only the Office-of-Profit issue and not any problem of the North Karnataka region. Though the holding of the session was welcome, there was no point if it did not discuss the problems of the region, he felt.
He said the ''step-motherly treatment'' by the successive Governments in providing basic facilities for the region should be discussed at the special session.
Meanwhile, a Gulbarga report said former Legislative Council Deputy Chairman B R Patil, MLA, welcomed the decision and appealed to the Government to hold the session for 15 days instead of just four or five days.
He urged the Government to hold Legislature session in Gulbarga too, a long-pending demand of the people of the backward area.
