Landslide on Shimla-Kalka railway line disrupts traffic
Shimla, Sep 16 (UNI) Traffic on the Shimla-Kalka Railway section remained suspended for over six hours last evening after a boulder damaged a wheel of Shivalik Express bogie following landslide triggered by heavy rains yesterday.
Shimla Station Superintendent B S Gill told UNI here today that the traffic was disrupted after the front wheel of a bogie of the Express was damaged by a boulder when the train was on its way to Kalka from here.
However, he said no loss of life was reported in the incident, which occurred at around 1930 hrs.
The 38 passengers travelling in the train were taken to Kalka Railway Station by road and the traffic was restored on the section after the wheel was repaired at 0130 hrs, Mr Gill added.
