K'taka to propose Hubli-Dharwad under JNNURM
Hubli, Sept 16: The Karnataka Government will submit a proposal to include Hubli-Dharwad in the Centre's Rs 60,000 crore Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) on September 18, State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti said today.
In a release here, he appealed to the JNNURM and Kalasa Bandori Action Committee to drop its agitation over the issue and said the Government was not ready to lose Rs 600 to Rs 800 crore available under the mission to develop the twin cities.
Mr Horatti said an all-party delegation would be taken to Delhi to press for the inclusion of the twin cities in the JNNURM.
Meanwhile, Committee chief Anilkumar Patil told newspersons here that with the Government deciding to submit a proposal for inclusion of Hubli-Dharwad in the mission and taking an all-party delegation to Delhi for the purpose, the agitation had been withdrawn.
