Int on govt loans to powerloom weavers waived

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today announced to waive-off interest on government loans to all powerloom weavers in the state.

This detailed order to district magistrates and commissioners follows chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's direction regarding the relief/concession on interest of government loans provided by handloom industries department to all powerloom weavers, powerloom weavers cooperative societies and 'cheepi' weavers.

This scheme will continue till March 2007.

Weavers who were not being able to repay government loans within the scheduled period would get the interest thereon waived, having some conditions like earlier barring central fund.

The CM has directed that all weavers of the state having loans should be benefitted from one time settlement facility under this scheme by launching a campaign.

Mr Yadav has warned if any application from the defaulters is received after the campaign, then disciplinary and stern action would be considered against the responsible official or employee.

The loans would be realised from the defaulter weavers, weavers' cooperative societies and 'cheepi' weavers after the period of campaign is over.
