India, Pak to set up joint anti-terror institutional framework

Havana, Sept 16 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, India and Pakistan today decided to put in place a joint anti-terrorism institutional mechanism for identifying and implementing counter-terrorism initiatives and investigations while agreeing to resume the stalled Foreign Secretary-level talks.

In a Joint Statement issued at the end of the more than an hour-long meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, India and Pakistan also decided to jointly find mutually-acceptable options for peaceful and negotiated settlement of all bilateral issues, including Jammu&Kashmir, in a sincere and purposeful manner.

The Joint Statement was read out by Dr Singh as Gen Musharraf stood along with him at the Protocol House where the much-awaited meeting took place on the margins of the 14th Non-Aligned Summit here.
