HM plan to trigger car blasts foiled in Kashmir, module busted

Srinagar, Sep 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police foiled a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) plan to trigger car bomb blasts in the valley when they unearthed a module of the outfit a senior police officer said.

Four HM militants, including a self-styled district Commander (DC) for Srinagar have been arrested while the car, explosives and other material being used to make car bombs have been recovered, Inspector General of Police (IGP) S M Sahai told reporters here this afternoon.

He said based on different inputs and continued investigation, the police special team finally unearthed the HM module and arrested four militants--Altaf Ahmad Mir alias Mushtaq alias Suhail a DC, Khursheed Ahmad Shah alias Khalid, a post graduate, Mohammad Amin Badyari alias Imtiyaz and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh aias Sajjad.

Mr Sahai said all the militants have been trained in fabricating mobile phone circuits and assembling car bombs.

He said a Pakistani mobile phone circuit box was recovered which was to be used in detonating the bombs fitted in the car.

Now the local militants under the command of Sohail Faisal have been trained to assemble electronic circuitry for use through a mobile phone.

He said the recovery made by the police during raids at different places during the past 24 hours included a detailed file of documents mentioning how to make such circuitry with code and also an '' Electric Chip Programmer''.

Mr Sahai said further investigation revealed this chip programmer was the latest method of causing car blasts.

The other items recovered included two pressure cooker IEDs, one car which was to be used in the blast, mobile triggering circuit alongwith mobile phone, primary explosive charges with detonators, Chip programmer for RCT triggered IEDs, circuit diagrams and electronic know-how mobile phone for fabrication of mobile triggers, IED circuits, chemical ingredients for making explosives, study material on chemical explosives, circuit detectors, three pistols with magazines, two grenades, one Kenwood wireless set and Rs 2.64 lakhs.

Mr Sahai said the group was now operating directly under the command and supervision of Sohail Faisal after Mudasir Ahmad Shah lost his eyesight and hearing got impaired when an explosive device he was fabricating exploded at Awantipora.

Shah alias Shabir alias Doctor was brain behind the car bomb blasts in the valley, he said.

Mr Sahai said the car were being provided by Nooruddin Shah who would also make alteration to such cars before using them in the car blasts.

He said the same group was responsible for causing car bomb blast on Srinagar Airport road on May 23 this year targeting a BSF vehicle.
