Heavy downpour lashes Rajkot

Rajkot, Sep 16 (UNI) People of Rajkot and far-off suburbs experienced heavy downpour this morning.

According to fire brigade sources, the city recorded 25 mm rainfall in just one hour this morning taking the season's total to 790 mm. The thick clouds suddenly hovered in the sky and started raining at around 0700 hrs.

However, the sky was clear in the noon.

Meanwhile, a report from Junagadh said one person was killed when lightning struck him at Alidar village in Kodinar taluka of the district.

The victim Jilubhai Gohil (38) was on his way to home when lightning struck, killing him on the spot, the report said.

Junagadh and other parts of the district experienced light to moderate showers during the last 24 hours.

Agriculture experts opined that this rain was beneficial for groundnut and cotton crops.

Light to moderate showers were also reported from some parts of the Bhavnagar district, a report from Bhavnagar said.
