Haryana rules Judo charts on day-2

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) Champions of the last edition Haryana maintained their supremacy in the ongoing Sub Junior National Judo championship on the second day here today.

Haryana succeeded in claiming two gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the girls and boys categories, while the host Uttar Pradesh won two and one bronze medals respectively.

In the 10-12 age group, Dharmendra of Haryana claimed the gold leaving behind Karan Veer of Punjab in the 40 kg category and in the same category of the girls section, Lalrintluangi of Mizoram won gold beating Rasmita Ravi of Orrisa in the final bout.Bandana Chanu of Manipur and Sukhpinder of Haryana remained on third and fourth places respectively for bronze medals.

In the 12-14 age group, Monika Malav (Rajasthan) beat Lalrengpull (Mizopram) in the final bout, while host's Pragya Shukla started well winnig first two rounds but lost in the pool. However, she made a comeback in the repechage round and won the bronze medal in the 35 kg category.

In the 45 Kg category for boys- Jasvinder Singh of Chandigarh broke the challenge of Pervez Ahamad of Uttaranchal for the top place in the final round, Ravinder Singh (Haryana) shared the bronze medals with Orrisa's Basanta Dalar.

Deepak (Haryana) was the other judoka from Haryana who won the gold in the 50 Kg category, while Chaoba Devi lifted gold in the 45 Kg category leaving behind Rimple (Haryana).In the same category, Raunak Saini of U P shared the bronze medal with Renu Bora of Uttaranchal.
