Freedom fighter Laxmidutt Kataria passes away
Bhilwara, Sep 16 (UNI) Freedom fighter and journalist Laxmidutt Kataria passed away this morning. He was 91.
He was cremated at his ancestral house in Shahpura in the afternoon.
Kataria was associated with the Independence movement before the foundation of Prajamandal. In 1942, he was the first one to raise his voice against the British rulers and spent 16 months in jail.
After Independence, Kataria was associated with the Congress Party and was a member of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee.
He was instrumental in bringing Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Congress convention held in Shahpura.
He was a member of the Shahpura Municipal Council and used to write for Hindi dailies Hindustan and Rajasthan Patrika.
