Four washed away in bridge collapse in AP

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 16 (UNI) Atleast four people were washed away when an old bridge on the swollen Ogeru brook on the Chilakaluripet-Chirala state highway near Pashumarru village in the district collapsed this evening.

According to Tahsildar R K Mohan, about 15 people were watching the view of the swollen stream when the structure of the bridge suddenly collapsed.

While 11 persons reached either side of the banks, four were reported to have been washed away by the swirling waters.

A new bridge was under construction near the collapsed bridge.
