Transco gets Asian award
Bhopal, Sep 16: The Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited has been felicitated with the Utility of the Year and Asian Transmission Project of the Year awards for 2006 for most excellent performance in Asia.
These awards were presented to the company's Chairman and Managing Director R K Verma at a function at Hong Kong organised recently by the Association of Electricity Supply Industries for South East Asia-Pacific, official sources said.
The sources said the company succeeded effectively in implementing various transmission projects with the cooperation of NABARD, Asian Development Bank and Power Finance Corporation.
However, in 2004-05, transmission and distribution loss in the state was 43.48 percent, highest in the country.
The company was selected for the awards for successfully completing ahead of schedule laying double circuit transmission lines for discharging electricity from the 1000 megawatt Indira Sagar hydel project on the Narmada river.
