Cong not to field candidate against KCR

Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) In a bid to appease the estranged Telangana Rashtra Samiti, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President K Keshava Rao today said the Congress would not field its candidate against TRS Supremo K Chandrasekara Rao.

The party had decided not to put up a candidate against KCR in the event of byelection to the Lok Sabha from Karimnagar, as TRS was part of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance at the Centre, he told reporters here.

''The TRS is part of the UPA and there is no question of fielding a party candidate against the TRS. Ours (ties between TRS and Congress) is a pre-poll alliance,'' he said.

Asked about the party stand if TRS came out of the UPA, he said ''we will see if the situation arises.'' UNI BR/SM ROY RL VV1807
