College girl commits suicide after boyfriend's murder

Vadodara, Sep 16 (UNI) Three days after her boyfriend was murdered by her elder brother, Rekha Makwana (18), a second year BA student of the M S University of Baroda, today committed suicide.

The teenaged girl, who was staying at her uncle's place at ST Colony in Gotri ever since the brutal killing of her boyfriend Hitesh Makwana (20) on September 13 night, took the extreme step by consuming acid and slashing her left wrist vein when there was no one in the house.

Rekha was rushed to the SSG hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

In her suicide note which J P Road police recovered from her possession at the hospital, Rekha said, her brother Jitendra Makwana had killed Hitesh owing to his mental stress and no one should be held responsible for her death.

Jitendra, who was arrested by the police a day after he killed Hitesh with a sword on the Gotri main road for not adhering to his repeated warning not to have any relation with his sister, was today produced before a local court which remanded him to custody as he had confessed to the crime.
