Coastal clean up programme inaugurated

Pondicherry, Sep 16 (UNI) Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today inaugurated the coastal clean up programme organised by the Pondicherry Coast Guard station on the occasion of World Coastal Clean Up Day.

The purpose of the programme was to clean eight coastal villages in Pondicherry by utilising the service of various NGOs and members of the NSS.

Mr N Somasundaram, Commander, Indian Coast Guard station, here told newspersons that the local administration department and the pollution control committee of Pondicherry were also associaated with the clean-up programme.

Pondicherry municipal chairperson Sreedevi participated in the function.
