CM says 2 medical colleges to be opened in HP soon

Shimla, Sep 16 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced opening of two more medical colleges in the private sector, saying this will help make the state educational hub of the country.

Presiding over the seventh annual conference of Indian Society of Anesthesiologists here, he said the colleges would be opened either in Kullu, Mandi or Hamirpur districts and would go a long way in providing quality medical education to students.

Mr Singh said his government was encouraging private participation in education that would help in making Himachal the educational hub of the country.

Stressing the need to adopt modern technologies to check population rise, he said although the population growth in the state was much lower as compared to the neighbouring states, the growth has to be checked.

He said Himachal was among 18 other states where National Rural Health Mission was being implemented.

The Chief Minister also released a souvenir on the occasion.
