CDP for capital complex to complete by 2012
Itanagar, Sep 16: Arunchal Pradesh Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) and Urban Development (UD) Nabam Tuki has said the City Development Plan (CDP) for Itanagar will be completed by 2012.
Addressing a function at Lollang village near here yesterday, the minister informed that Rs 63,000 crore was earmarked for CDP throughout the country at the recent UD ministers' meeting in the Centre attended by all cities with a million plus population qualified under the Jawarhalal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM).
''The twin capital complex was fortunate enough to make the cut despite having a meagre population,'' he added.
Stating health as one of the major aspects of the life process, the minister said creating health awareness among the people here is necessary so that they could derive maximum benefit from the health delivery system.
Tuki urged to maintain the health center with proper planning in order to come up with better facilities in future and informed that once the infrastructure facilities come up at the center it could be converted into full fledged public health clinic.
He also informed that Jollang would be converted into an urban village by ensuring basic amenities like housing, water supply, electricity and roads.
Besides, he suggested the poverty alleviation programme citing examples of various urban villages in metropolitan cities.
The minister further stressed the need to establish a medical college in the state with 500 bedded hospital.
Mr Tuki assured to look into the demands of Jollang Anchal Samitu Member (ASM) which included the maintenance of road between Itanagar and Jaharlagun, construction of suspension bridge over river Ganga, community hall and medical staff quarter, drinking water facility and a police outpost.
