BIAPA engineer caught accepting bribe
Bangalore, Sep 16 (UNI) Sleuths of the Karnataka Lok Ayukta have caught a junior engineer, working in Bangalore International Airport Planning Authority, while accepting a bribe of Rs 3.5 lakh from a builder for issuing no-objection certificate for conversion of agriculture land.
Speaking to newspersons here today, Lok Ayukta Mr Justice Santosh Hegde said the builder complained to them that the engineer H R Vishwanath had demanded the bribe to issue the certificate for converting a land in Devanahalli taluk of Bangalore Rural district for commercial use. Following this, a trap was laid last evening and Vishwanath was caught red handed while accepting the bribe at a city hotel.
