Atwal withdraws from 84 Lumber Classic in 2nd round

Pennsylvania, Sep 16 (UNI) Arjun Atwal's nightmare in the greens continued and the Orlando-based Indian eventually withdrew in the second round of the 84 Lumber Classic here.

Struggling to make cuts this year, Atwal had returned a poor cut of seven-over 79 in the opening round to mar his prospects of playing over the weekends at the Mystic Rock Course.

In his second round outing, Atwal started with his back nine and a hat-trick of bogey greeted him, destroying whatever chances he had of making the cut. He did manage a birdie in the par-five 16th hole but when he finished his halfway at two-over, thwe writing was clear on the wall and Atwal withdrew.

At the top of the table, Ben Curtis fired 67 to join fellow American Ryan Moore in the lead at five-under 135.
