AP govt to seek more central assistance at CMs meet
Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture and Civil Supplies Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would give a presentation on state's agriculture action plan at the two-day Chief Ministers (CMs) conclave beginning on September 23 Nainital to seek more central assistance.
Addressing the press here, Mr Reddy said the Chief Minister would give a presentation at the conclave highlighting the state's agriculture agenda to achieve four per cent agriculture growth in next three years.
Stating that the government would urge the Centre to reduce interest rates on farmers loans to twentyfive paise and increase the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) funds, he said Dr Reddy would also bring the Seed Act and crop insurance issues to the notice of the Union Government.
The Minister said the state government was committed to supply irrigation water to one crore acres of land additionally, increase horticulture production besides taking up bio-deisel plantation in 1.40 crore acres of land in three years.
