AP CM refutes charges of insufficient power supply
Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today dismissed the allegations of the Opposition parties that agriculture fields were drying up due to insufficient supply of power and asserted that no crop had withered due to shortage of power supply.
After holding a review meeting on the dry spell, powercut and farmers' agitations in different parts of the state, Dr Reddy said though there was disruption of power supply due to technical reasons, it had not affected farming.
The allegations of the opposition parties were 'politically motivated,' he said.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and top officials of the government.
Mr Raghuveera Reddy said water was being provided in nearly one crore acre of land to help the farmers in cultivating sweet sorgam.
