Yemen foils oil refinery attacks - report

DUBAI, Sep 15 (Reuters) Yemen has foiled attempts by unknown gunmen to blow up two oil refineries, Al Jazeera television reported today.

The Qatar-based television said the gunmen were apparently planning to use four cars in suicide attacks.

No other details were immediately available.

Impoverished Yemen has vowed to crack down on attacks by al Qaeda-linked militants and kidnappings by disgruntled tribesmen.

Yemen is due to hold presidential and municipal elections on September. 20.
