Urban poor to get 1.20 lakh houses in MP
Bhopal, Sep 15: As many as 1.20 lakh houses would be constructed for poor families living in Madhya Pradesh's major cities.
With a view to solving this segment's housing problem, this task is being taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission along with the Integrated Housing and Slum Area Development Programme, an official release said here today.
The Urban Administration and Development department is considering construction of one lakh more abodes in addition to this with HUDCO financial assistance.
The units to be built in the scheme's first phase would include 50,000 at Indore, 25,000 here, 10,000 -- Jabalpur, 9,300 -- Gwalior, 5,000 -- Ujjain. Besides, towns having over one lakh population would be covered with 500 houses each. The target is to complete the scheme by 2007-08, the release added.
