UBI to give OD facilities to NE women entrepreneurs
Aizawl, Sep 15: The United Bank of India(UBI) would be providing Overdraft (OD) facilities especially to the women entrepreneurs across the NE region.
UBI chairman P K Gupta told UNI that the bank would take innovative measures for assisting poor women entrepreneurs and the weaker sections of the society through United Sahah Rin Yojana in the region.
Under the scheme women with very low income level could initially avail Rs 500 OD in rural and semi-urban areas and Rs 1000 in urban areas without any formalities, he added.
''This OD facility would be enhanced to Rs 3000 and Rs 5000 for rural and semi-urban and urban areas respectively,'' he said.
Mr Gupta said UBI would give priority to finance the agriculture and allied sector and extending support to Women Self-help Groups (SHGs) of NE states.
The bank had identified horticulture, floriculture and ginger processing, as vibrant sectors for sanctioning loan to the enterpreneurs of the region, he informed.
The bank would study the state's socio-economic status for augmenting further investment, Mr Gupta added.
