Two CPI(M) supporters shot at in West Medinipur

Gidhni, Sep 15: Two CPI(M) supporters Kanu Rana (18) and Sandeep Das (30) were wounded when five masked gunmen fired at them at Gidhni in West Bengal's West Medinipur district tonight, police said.

The gunmen fired at them when they were emerging from the party office at Gidhni under Jhargram Sub-division.

The injured have been taken to Chilkigarh health centre.

Prof Dipak Sarkar, District CPM secretary, alleged that the miscreants were Jharkhand Party supporters.

The party will observe the protest day tomorrow against the incident.

Superintendent of Police Raj Shekharan had rushed to the spot.

No arrest had been made so far.

After the gun shots, tension ran high in the area.

Reinforcement was deployed in the area.
