SAD, BJP MLAs suspended for the session
Chandigarh, Sep 15: All 42 members belonging to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and two of the BJP were today suspended from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the rest of the session for ''unruly behaviour'' and ''obstructing the proceedings of the Assembly''.
Speaker Dr Kewal Krishan passed the order under Rule 97 of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Proceedings after Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal moved a motion in the House for their suspension.
''All oppostion members of the SAD and BJP present in the House are here by suspended for the rest of the session'', the Speaker said after his repeated pleas to maintain order were ignored by the agitated SAD-BJP members who trooped into the well of the House demanding a CBI inquiry into the Ludhiana City Centre scam.
Earlier, the Speaker adjourned the House thrice after Question Hour when the opposition members, not satisfied with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's statement on the City Centre scam, insisted on a CBI probe.
The Chief Minister was replying to an adjournment motion moved by the leader of the opposition and SAD member Parkash Singh Badal demanding a discussion on the City Centre scam which was exposed by a private TV news channel.
