Rains lash parts of Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 15 (UNI) Rains lashed parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh over night, bringing a fall in the temperature especially in the hilly state.

The sky remained partially cloudy at most places as the Sun played hide and seek during the day.

Several areas in Haryana, including Ambala and Hissar, were lashed by rain overnight. Rohtak was the wettest place in the state, recording 13.4 mm rain till this morning.

Isolated places in Punjab also had downpour with Ludhiana reporting moderate rainfall. The town received 39.6 mm rain till 0830 hours.

Parts of Himachal Pradesh, including mid and lower hills, were also lashed by rain plummeting, the temperature in the state. Tribal areas of the state reeled under cold-weather conditions following decline in the mercury.

Rains also lashed Shimla and its adjoining areas and the capital town recorded 0.9 mm rain. Cold winds swept across the town which remained enveloped in fog.

Bhuntar, Nahan, Barthin, Bhang-Manali, Solang Nullah, Pandoh and Dhundi areas of the state also received rain.

Chandigarh and its adjoining areas experienced cloudy weather for greater part of the day following trace rainfall overnight. The city recorded maximum humidity at 91 per cent and the minimum at 49.

The Met department predicted moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at few places in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
