Rainfall in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal, low pressure forms in AP
New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Rains lashed parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh since last night, bringing a fall in the temperature especially in the hilly state.
The sky remained partially cloudy at most places as the Sun played hide and seek during the day. Rohtak was the wettest place in the state, recording 13.4 mm downpour till this morning.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area has formed over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast and heavy rainfall is predicted in the next two to three days. The east-west shear zone had shifted slightly northwards and is now running across north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Konkan.
Also, the southwest monsoon continues to be vigorous in coastal Karnataka and active in Konkan and Goa and heavy rains are also likely in coastal Karnataka and Andman and Nicobar Islands. It has been subdued over Jharkhand,Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch.
Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many placs in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal and Sikkim, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalseema,interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep and at a few places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Vidaabha, Chattisgarh, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu and at isolated places in Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarnchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh,Jammu and Kashmir and Gujrat State. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Rajasthan.
After experiencing hot weather for the last one week, the rain god showed mercy on the people of Visakhapatnam as heavy rains lashed the city this morning.
However, there was no respite for the people of Kolkata as hot and sultry conditions continued with occasional drizzles. The Met department said the Seasonal Monsoon Trough over the North Gangetic Bengal was rapidly moving southwards which would result in heavy rains in the next few days.
