Rail engine factory at Marhoura soon: Lalu
Patna, Sep 15 (UNI) Railway minister Lalu Prasad today said that a rail engine factory would be set up at Marhoura in Bihar's Saran district to cater to the growing demand of locomotives.
Addressing the RJD's elected representatives to panchayats, Mr Prasad said the factory would be designed in the model of Chittaranjan Locomotives in West Bengal.
He also said the instructions had been issued to provide storage facilities of vegetables and other perishable agro-products in railway station premises for smooth and speedy transportation.
Railway freight corridor--the dream project of Mr Prasad-- would soon be inaugurated at Ludhiana, Mumbai and Sasaram, he added.
Mr Prasad said the railway projects valued at Rs.11,000 crore were under execution in Bihar including construction of 45 new road overbridges.
