PWC signs MoU with CIMA to identify mngt trainees
Mumbai, Sept 15: The London-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) in Mumbai.
The primary objective of the agreement is to develop a year-on-year programme to focus on identified activities and specific projects, based on mutual agreement and collaboration.
Talking to media after signing the MoU, the MD of PWC, Roopen Roy, said, ''As a first initiative, we at PWC are offering management trainee positions to reach graduates who have also completed the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting. These positions are based in PWC operations across India and offer an opportunity for new professionals to launch a career in consultancy with PWC.'' In addition, PWC will make openings available to candidates already pursuing or completing the CIMA Professional Qualification, he added.
The director, international development, CIMA, Kathy Grimshaw, said on the occasion that ''We are also looking forward to collaborating closely with PWC on the promotion of management accounting and consultancy career options for finance professionals across India and, by organising joint seminars, benefiting from the considerable expertise of PWC as industry leaders.'' Later, replying to a media query, Mr Roy said that we will reimburse a part of the course fee as paid by the students while pursuing their CIMA Certificate course and also we'll absorb those students that qualify all the examinations for the course, having a duration of one and a half years, in one go.
Talking about the utility of the course, he said that unlike Chartered accountancy which basically produced auditors, the CIMA Certificate will be useful for pursuing careers in the fields like management, treasury, management information services and others.
