PM greets Hooda on 59th birthday

Chandigarh, Sep 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today conveyed his best wishes to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on his 59th birthday.

The Prime Minister, who is in Havana, sent a faxed message to Mr Hooda to convey his wishes.

''I send my best wishes for your sustained good health and happiness so that you can continue to serve our country for a long time to come,'' the message said.

Haryana Governor A R Kidwai also conveyed his best wishes to the Chief Minister. Mr Hooda was also congratulated by his ministerial colleagues.

A number of functions were organised in Rohtak, the home district of Mr Hooda to mark his birthday. His wife Asha Hooda celebrated the birthday in the company of members belonging to weaker sections of society and orphaned children.

She visited the Lakhi Ram Arya orphanage and cut a birthday cake which was distributed amongst the children. Later she visited an old age home in Rohtak where she served food to the destitudes and gifted them clothers. She also paid obeisance at Kashi Vishav Nath Temple.
