Naqvi wants Pope to clarify his statements on Islam

New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today sought clarification from Pope Benedict XVI for linking Islam with terror ignoring the 'root cause' -- the wrong West Asian policy of United States and Bush administration that had led to global disharmony.

Mr Naqvi, BJP Vice President said that just as it was wrong to term the wrong policies of President George W Bush and his country as 'Christian terrorism', it is equally wrong to equate the policies of Al-Qaeda and its Chief Osama Bin Laden with Islamic terror.

He stated that a clarification from the Pope on the issue is necessary as the media reports from Reganburg, Germany said that Pope had criticised 'extremist Islam' justifying terrorism. "If he has criticised Islam, than it would create social disharmony and hence he should tender apology", he demanded.

The party however was not available for official comments on the ground that the issue was being studied.
