MoU with Reliance yet to be signed: MTNL CMD
New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Telecom major Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today said the joint exploration and launching international operations with Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communication is still under process and no decision has yet been taken.
''Signing MoU with Reliance in this regard is under process and the final decision is still to be arrived at,'' MTNL CMD RSP Sinha told reporters here.
Mr Sinha, however, declined to divulge the time period for this MoU, saying it is in the pre-mature stage.
This agreement will be the first of its kind, where a public sector unit (PSU) and private firm would enter into an agreement to jointly scout for global opportunities, he said.
On the proposed joint venture called Millennium Telecom Company (MTL) between MTNL and BSNL, Mr Sinha clearly said that it would be a 51:49 JV which would be finalised very soon.
After making this JV, MTL will oversee the building and operating of the Rs 1800 crore undersea cable business of the PSUs.
As per the deal, MTL will only act as an infrastructure provider and not as an international long distance service provider.
