Motorcycle expedition of NCC girls flagged off

Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) 'Stree Shakti', a motorcycle expedition from the city to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, undertaken by nine girl cadets and an officer of the National Cadet Corps, was flagged off here today.

The expedition was aimed at promoting national integration and healthcare by the cadets, belonging to 9-Karnataka Battalion NCC Girls (Senior wing) of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College. It would also focus on women empowerment and spread awareness on the issues of child abuse, cancer, literacy and ecology, an official release here said.

The expedition, covering a distance of over 2,000 km in 15 days, would pass through the Southern States of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh, the release said.

Air Commodore S Srivatsava, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa, flagged off the expedition.
