Malaysian held for abducting minor girl
Chennai, Sep 15 (UNI) A Malaysian national who had eloped with a school-going minor girl to marry her much against the wishes of his first wife, was arrested here today on charges of abduction and rape.
The youth, Karthikesu, was formally arrested at the Government Stanley Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment after an alleged suicide bid along with the girl, fearing arrest, the police sources said.
Karthikesu, who was already married to Karishma, was living at Tiruvottriyur when he got attracted to the girl, daughter of the house owner. Despite warnings from Karishma, their intimacy grew, before they eloped on August 31.
Acting on a complaint from the house owner that his daughter had not returned from school and was abducted by Karthikesu, who too was reported missing, the police pursued various leads and went to several places.
When the Malaysian tried to forcibly marry her in Madurai, they returned to Chennai as one of the police teams reached there, acting on information.
After hiding in some places in the city giving a tough time to the cops, police received information that a couple was admitted in an unconscious stage at the Stanley Hospital as they had reportedly consumed poison.
Once they regained consciousness, the police inquired with the girl and slapped a case of kidnap and rape against the Malaysian, leading to his arrest.
