Low pressure forms, monsoon vigorous
Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) A low pressure area has formed over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast.
The east-west shear zone had shifted slightly northwards and is now running across north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Konkan.
Under these conditions, fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely in the next two to three days, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted.
Moderate to heavy rain thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Telangana, Rayalaseema and in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated heavy rain was likely over Telangana and Rayalaseema also in the next 48 hours, according to Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director M Satya kumar.
Southwest monsoon was vigorous over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours, he said.
Srisailam recorded a heavy rainfall of 25 cm followed by Huzurabad 14 cm.
The stations recorded heavy rainfall were Atmakur 11 cm, Koderu, Koilkuntla, Yellandu, Yerragondapalem nine cm each, Amalapuram, Piduguralla and Sattenapalli, Proddatur and Rayachoty, Tanuku eight each, Ongole, Achampet, Jangaon seven cm each.
Rainfall was also reported in Bhongir (Six cm), Nandyal, Badvel, Lakkireddipalli, Porumamilla and Rajampet, Bhimadole and Koyyalagudem, Nizamsagar, Nuzvid and Prakasam Barrage, Rapur (Five cm) each.
