Jute godown gutted

Krishnanagar, West Bengal, Sep 15 (UNI) Jute stocks worth Rs 25 lakhs was burnt to ashes, when a private jute godown at Karimpur Bazar near here was gutted in a fire last night, police said today.

Police said the fire which started last night is now under control but they fear that the fire might not have been doused completely.

Firetenders were brought in from Krishnanagar and Berhampore to douse the flames in the gowdown.

Police suspected short circuit to be the cause of the fire.
