Justice Rajendra Babu to probe custodial deaths

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 15: Former High Court Judge Rajendra Babu has been appointed to conduct a judicial inquiry into the recent custodial and police-related deaths in Kerala, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said today.

He told newspersons after a meeting of the State Cabinet that the judicial inquiry would cover all the custodial and police-related deaths that occurred in the state from April one to August six.

The inquiry was ordered following the demand by the Opposition for a comprehensive inquiry into the issue ever since the Left Democratic Front Government assumed office.
