Inquiry into ISKCON temple blast in progress: CM
Imphal, Sep 15 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said the inquiry into the ISKCON temple blast on August 16, which killed six persons, was in progress and that some evidences have also been gathered in this regard.
"Let the police take its own time. Police has unearthed the killing of a police officer recently. Two human rights activists were also appehended for alleged links with militants but it is not known if they were involved in the temple blasts" the Chief minister said during the monsoon session of the Manipur legislative Assembly which began here today.
Security has been beefed up in and around the Assembly premises.
Even mobile phones were not allowed inside the assembly.
BJP MLA B D Behring, moving a call attention motion, said the government should try to find out those involved in the attacks on the temple and take action against those responsible for attacking the Evangelical Baptist Church on August 20 killing one person.
L Ibomcha also took part in the discussion. Dr Nimaichand Luwang raised the issue of the poor condition of the National Highway in Manipur.
The Chief Minister tabled the Manipur Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (amendment) rules 2006 and annual report of state vigilance commission.
The session is scheduled to conclude on September 18.
