Indian delegation to visit Luxembourg
New Delhi, Sept 15: India would send a delegation to Luxembourg comprising representatives of the pharma and plastic industries to explore possible areas of cooperation and technology sharing, said the Minister for Chemicals, Fertilisers and Steel, Ram Vilas Paswan.
Mr Paswan who is currently on a tour of the european nations announced this during his meeting with the Luxembourg's Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mr Jeannot Krecke today.
Some of the areas which were identified by both the leaders for mutual cooperation include steel, financial services and plastic processing technology so as to make Luxembourg a hub of the European market.
Mr Krecke informed Mr Paswan that being a major centre of steel production in the world, Luxembourg is willing to extend necessary technological support to the Indian steel industry to modernise and expand itself.
The Indian Steel Minister in his reply said India would look forward to investments from Luxembourg.
Earlier, Mr Paswan met the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker to discuss issues of mutual interest with particular interest for the expansion of public sector steel plants in India.
Mr Juncker requested Mr Paswan to expedite the signing of the double taxation avoidance agreement between India and Luxembourg. Mr Paswan agreed to convey his request to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, according to an official communication received here today.
