HP considering merger of vigilance and enforcement departments: CM
Shimla, Sep 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said his government was considering a proposal to merge vigilance and enforcement departments for increasing their efficiency.
Addressing ex-officio vigilance officers of government departments, boards and corruption here, he said the decision to merge the two departments would only be taken after examining all merits and demerits of the proposal.
Mr Singh also emphasized the need to invoke the Himachal Pradesh Prevention of Specific Corrupt Practices Act, 1983.
Observing that corruption undermined economic stability by reducing avenues and by increasing unproductive spending, he called upon vigilance officers to weed out corruption and corrupt officers from the administrative structure.
