Hearing on draft charges adjourned to September 19
Mumbai, Sep 15 (UNI) Special TADA court today adjourned the hearing on the draft charges to September 19 against extradited gangster Abu Salem and others in connection with the murder of builder Pradeep Jain during 1995.
The matter has been adjourned to September 19 as the court could not conduct the proceedings today since the judge was on leave.
Prosecution on August 9 opened the draft charges in which they said that the accused persons had struck terror in the builder's lobby and a conspiracy in this regard was hatched at Dubai and Mumbai. Thus the accused persons have committed offence punishable under section 120 (B) and many sections of IPC and TADA act.
While Abu Salem's counsel sought hearing on imposition of 120 B, the counsel for builder Virendrakumar Jhamd challenged the TADA act on his client.
Of the five accused in this case, Riyaz Ahmed Siddique and Mohd Naeem Khan filed application seeking Pardon and turned approver in this case. Other three accused are Abu Salem, Mohd Hasan Mehendi Hasan and a builder Virendrakumar Bidarilal Jhamd. Pradeep Jain a builder was gunned down on March 7, 1995, in his office situated at Juhu area of the city on his failure to pay the extortion amount.
