Govt. approves highways projects
New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu has approved road improvement works in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, Harayana and Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 144 crore.
A sum of Rs 128 crore has been sanctioned for 47 road improvement works in Maharashtra at various Highways stretches in different parts of the state.
An amount of Rs 6.21 crore has been approved for strengthening the Dwarka-Porbandar-Somnath section on NH-8E (Extn.) in Gujarat.
The minister also grantede Rs 4.87 crore for strengthening a certain stretch of NH-64 on Patiala-Sangrur-Bhatinda road in Punjab.
An amount of Rs 3.21 crore would be spent on widening to two lane with paved shoulders some sections of NH-71 in Harayana.
Mr Baalu sanctioned a sum of Rs 2.17 crore for improving riding quality of a certain stretch of NH-31 in West Bengal.
In addition, an amount of Rs 8.89 lakh for engaging consultant for feasibility study/detail engineering regarding by-pass at Baghbhara town on NH-217 in Chhattisgarh.
